Bees might be essential pollinators, but that doesn’t mean you want them taking up residence on your property. Even if you aren’t allergic to bees, their stings are still painful, and you don’t want to be in close quarters with one, a few, or even a whole colony. If you have a bee problem, what you should do is contact our professionals at BeeMan Stan Bee Removal. We’ll take care of it. In the meantime, here are a few things you shouldn’t do when you have a bee problem.
- Don’t try to remove a hive yourself. Beehive removal should only be done by a trained professional who has the proper equipment and is wearing the appropriate PPE. Don’t spray pesticides on a hive, use water, or try to remove it in any way.
- Don’t disturb the colony. Don’t bother the bees; leave them be and let us take care of them instead. Do your best to avoid the hive, and don’t move too quickly if you are ever near the bees. Jumping up and down or other sudden movements can agitate them.
- Don’t wear sweet-smelling fragrances. If you don’t want your bee problem to follow you around, avoid wearing perfumes, lotions, or body sprays that smell sweet. If you smell like a flower, the bees might mistake you for one.
- Don’t wear colors bees are attracted to. Bees are attracted to bright colors like blue, violet, and yellow because they are the colors of flowers they are attracted to. Avoid wearing these colors in your yard if you have a bee problem. Instead, you might wear light and pastel colors.
